But every so often he loses his temper and Charlotte gets the brunt of his anger. During the 18 year course of their marriage, there are at least 8 incidents of physical abuse and countless of mental. To get that reference you need to buy Linda Eder's third album "It's Time"
Abuse is still a huge issue.

Don't cry...You had a bad dream, that's all
Don't cry...Now it's all gone
Don't cry...They're just shadows on the wall
Don't cry...They always move on
All the children of Eve sleeping somewhere tonight
Dream of days when the shadows are gone
All the children of Eve say a prayer every night
Praying there'll be no dragons at dawn
One child...Learning to take the fall
One child...Living in war
No child...Just shadows on the wall
One child...And millions more
Not all children of Eve sleep in peace every night
Not all nightmares are over at dawn
When the children of Eve become dragons and fight
Then the whole vicious circle rolls on But all that matters now
Is finding some way somehow
To leave this winter far behind
I swear...
I'm scared of the shadows too
One day...
I'll try and be there for you
Till there are no dragons in that sky
All the children of Eve sleeping somewhere tonight
Dream of days when the shadows are gone
All the children of Eve say a prayer every night
Praying there'll be no dragons at dawn

This thread can be a place to post helpful information, links, songs, poems that build up/edify the human spirit.
Speaking as the person that posted this thread: If you are dealing with domestic violence, and abuse issues in your own life, please get some help. You deserve better. However, we cannot address personal issues here in this thread.
I am NOT a licensed counselor, social worker, minister, pastor.
The film is among Wagner's best work. I wanted to honor that by posting this thread and raising awareness of the topic.
We are so much more powerful then we know as individuals and as a whole. We have so much influence on others, some we know, and most we do not know. We can overcome.
NOTA BENA: The posts that are originally mine about this film (Max was kind and re-posted them here) are from a thread that I have recently deleted....due to Max posting this new thread.
Domestic Violence is an on-going, serious, and complex issue for many, many people and families inside and outside of traditional marriage. Men can and do batter women. Women can and do batter men. Men can and do batter men. Women can and do batter women.

Domestic Violence is an on-going serious and complex issue for many, many people and families inside and outside of traditional marriage...Especially in LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] relationships where it is a hidden issue.
Seeing Lyndsay (or any woman for that matter) getting battered wasn't what made me stop watching. It's the fact that she kept going back and staying with her abusive spouse is what turned my stomach.
I have no sympathy for battered women and their continous stupidity for going back to their abusive spouce and/or boyfriends. If they're that stupid then they deserve to suffer.

Dude, harsh.
Abused people often go back to abusers, especially spouses, they are made to feel like they cant do anything and they stay with the abusers cuz they think theyneed them.
