That was quite a kiss that Oscar gave Jaime! Wink
And and the look she gives him is pretty humorous.
Jaime and Oscar were never lovers. He was too old for her anyway. Oscar's love for her was that of a concerned father figure.
I agree completely! That kiss just seemed a little....close.
Oscar wasn't a father figure for Jaime. Richard Anderson himself said that he played Oscar as being in love with her. If you really pay attention you'll notice that he never treats her like a daughter. He's very respectful of her as an adult and a capable person.

I find people say that when they're uncomfortable with the concept of there being an attraction there.
They did have some heavy-duty sparks going on...I'll give them that. Smile
As for that kiss - it was on the cheek, and the only reason it lingered so long was because they cut it in half so that they could do a cutaway of Starkey looking disgusted. It was really an editing thing - but it works for me!

And don't forget the hug!
Greetings to you as well. Glad to have you aboard!
i always thought it was a bit odd how Oscar would always kiss her, and call her babe, she's a colleauge!!
This is one of my favorite episodes, centering around the abuse Jaime receives from a disapproving Starkey. She earns his respect first by humoring him, then showing him she is kind but not incompetent, then finally showing him incredible modesty considering her amazing abilities. This in itself was a life lesson for many young children at the time. Andy Griffith gives a great performance as Starkey.
I liked this episode - primarily because of the kiss Oscar plants on Jaime - the hug on the plane too. It's sweet the way he's a bit reticent to send her out on the mission - and she obviously likes the attention and affection.
Who doesn't like attention and affection is an idiot!!!

Great episode. I'm glad that it did not take long to develop Jaime's strong personality. the chemistry between Lindsay and Mr. Griffith is fantastic. It was aso fun to see the little things that still needed tweaked (the ear activation sound and the closing theme). Boo on the kiss... I think the O/J relationship also underwent some slight changing... that kiss was WAY TOOOO CLOSE.
"Babe" was one of the worst feminine terms of endearment to come out of the 70's

I love those pictures between Jaime and Oscar, they are great !

The only problem with that kiss is that there weren't dozens more even closer.

I agree that "Babe" can be an obnoxious word, but Oscar is so natural about it it seems like a perfectly legitimate term of affection.
