I have started watching episodes of the SMDM, I don’t remember the SMDM what-so –ever as a child. I was much too young when the series started in 1975.
I have noticed however, after watching several episodes of the SMDM that Oscar Goldman’s character is different in the SMDM than in TBW. What I mean is that in the SMDM Oscar is at times pushy, heartless, bureaucratic and political, unlike the soft , understanding, fatherlike personality on TBW. I noticed that Oscar Goldman treated Steve Austin quite different than Jamie Sommers, perhaps it was was the typical " Man " v.s " Woman " role in society, I guess the 1970's were not any exception to the rule.
In todays TV programs and movies alike, women are finally portrayed in high powerfull positions, do not discriminate the genders, just as long as the job is done is what counts.
E.G.'s * EUREKA* ( one of my favorite programs ) has a woman as director wereby she is at times ruthless and hearless.
* M in James Bond * Woman has "M " position - playing a very tough character that was traditionally a man role before.
To name a few of the top of my head ( there are plenty but I do not what to bore anyone !)
Strange though, but what I mentioned above concerning the SMDM series I don't see it in TBW as much perhaps Lindsey Wagner once again influence that as well ?
