-Ken Johnson “ ‘Kill Oscar’ was a challenging show because of the technology, the props, the ripping off of faces, wires underneath, etc. I understand a lot of kids were really freaked out. A lot of parents told me that the trilogy just terrified their kids. I had no idea it was gonna have that much of an impact, and was a little distressed to hear it at the time.”
I was freaked out by the fembots upon first viewing Kill Oscar. The creep factor risen in my 9 year old mind everytime they lose their face.
I assume that they're supposed to be scary. I don't understand why Ken should feel so distressed about it. It's a job well done.
Nobody wants to scare anyone anymore. What fun is that? Those things were freaky, therefore memorable, therefore great!

"Discerning viewers will notice that the opening credits theme music was given a creepy upgrade from the "Kill Oscar" trilogy. This was only used, however, in syndication and home video versions. The original broadcast featured the short main title with the Jerry Fielding score."
Those faces with wires and eyeballs scared me as a kid. But I remember them fondly now. Especially when my nephew sees pictures and asks me what the big deal was. "You kids today just don't know how scary that was back then!":D

I think every one of us in our age group, were creeped out for quite a long time after seeing the Fembots!
The younger generations now are just so jaded when it comes to that kind of stuff. Last year I watched
The Shining (the film version with Jack Nicholson, not the TV mini-series with Steven Weber) with my 15 year old cousin, and at the end of it, she said to me, "that wasn't scary at all."
Kids.

*lol*

I could imagine how scary you were when you was a kid, because I was a teenager when I saw the trilogy and I became scared too...
