Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Italian theme song of The Bionic Woman?
02-08-2008, 07:53 PM
It's a shame that Region 1 DVDs for SMDM and BW will never see the light of day.

02-08-2008, 07:55 PM
I agree - if they could just settle the dispute about who has the rights!
I mean how tough can this be?

It's all about money. Stupid situation.

I forgot which company. It's either Miramax or Dimension studio holds the rights for all of Martin Caiden's work including Steve Austin, Oscar Goldman and Rudy Wells characters because Universal never bothered to renew the rights themselves.
These same rights are what prevented the new Bionic Woman series from naming two of the characters Oscar Goldman and Rudy Wells. (at least something good came from the rights issues.)
Universal refuses to share any profit with the other studio. The expense to produce these DVDs are unjustifiable for them.
It will never happen.
Sad but true.

Where can one look up information about the situation?

There is a blurb on K. Johnson's site about it as well.

*IMPORTANT & EXCITING NEWS*
E-mail from THE BIONIC FAN NETWORK [bionicfans.net]

Subject: [Bionicfans] Re: BW Season 2, German boxset -- YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED!!!

Hey everybody,
talked to Koch Media the other day and they are very sad to announce
that there will be no Kenneth Johnson feature on the season 2 dvds.
The reason is that the sales for season 1 weren't as good as expected
so Koch Media have only a little budget for further bonus materials so
they cannot afford an interview etc. ****Koch Media is, however,
DEFINITELY going to release season 3 soon!****
Despite that, they are eager for other features, so this is were you
all come in. I need your support:
1) I thought it would be nice to include some Kenner Toy Commercials
on the DVDs (especially the fembot doll commercials). As far as I know
Kenner doesn't exist anymore and is now a part of Hasbro. I emailed
Hasbro and asked for support, but they simply won't answer my request.
Since I do not know anything about American copyright law, maybe one
of you can help. Are the Kenner commercials public domain now? Does
Hasbro still hold the copyright to them?
2) Similar thing with Charlton Comics. They released the famous SMDM /
BW comic books. Charlton seems to have disappeared from the market.
Does anybody know about the current copyright holders for their SMDM /
BW comics? I know that some Charlton characters were bought by DC
Comics, but SMDM and BW don't seem to be among them.
Maybe this helps: the comic books say that they are published by
Charlton Publications Inc. but the © is Universal City Studios Inc.
3) Koch Media is willing to change the cover pic of Lindsay for season
II. They were quite discontent with the picture themselves and told me
that it's really hard to get high quality pictures of Lindsay from the
BW era due to copyright reasons (once more!) -- even Universal UK
couldn't use ANY nice pictures.
So, if someone here has some nice photos in high quality that could
well be put on the cover, please tell me about it quickly!
4) The "Doomsday is Tomorrow" and "Kill Oscar" fantrailers are so
cool, I would love Koch Media to put them on the season 2 discs. I
don't remember who made them, Paul maybe?!? If the creator of these
trailers is willing to contribute them for the dvds, please contact
me. I need high quality versions (mpg2 or vob would be preferred).
If you have any further suggestions about the upcoming release, THIS
IS YOUR CHANCE to say it.
Cheers from Europe,
I count on you all!

Jaime Sommers (The Bionic Woman) Story.
English Song Lyrics:
"When we were children play by fantasy,
flying over with open arms immense grasslands,
Then I came down fighting to free you,
Until one evening you didn't fly more with me.
Baby Doll,
Always into my mind.
Every great love has its logic madness
I'll make a perfect doll as you
More woman, more tenderly.
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Oh, She's a beautiful doll, baby-doll!
Oh, She's so beautiful.
Oh, Breathe and walk, baby doll
Sight for me, oh baby doll.
Baby Doll,
She doesn't make whims,
She's programmed for to smile,
From weeping to poetring
But you have complete feelings freedom
With open arms over immense prairie
Baby Doll,
world turns around us
Here into eye of cyclone,
I feel carillon
Sweet music that robots playing
In the night more tenderly.
(love me, love me)
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Oh, Breathe and walk, baby doll
Sight for me, oh baby doll.
(love me, love me, love me, love me)
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti ti-chi-ti tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti ti-chi-ti tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti and tic-chi-ti-chi-ta
Tic-chi-tic-chi-ti ti-chi-ti tic-chi-ti-chi-ta

Hi everybody,
thought I should give you an update on the German release of the
"Bionic Woman". These days, final preparations are made to make sure
that "Die Sieben Millionen Dollar Frau" will be ready for sale on July
25. The second season will include another booklet with episode guide,
background information on each episode and some nice stories.
Unfortunately, it'll be in German again so if you're not familiar with
the language, sorry for that -- but I guess if you're a real fan (and
being in this group should all qualify you for that) you shouldn't be
too disappointed as most information should be known to you already.
Besides, Koch Media have proven their interest in what the fans want
so the bonus features will include the original German intro as seen
on German television in the 1980's.
And there is still some more good news. The third season is still in
its planning phase so there'll be some opportunity for us to get
involved in its making. Although there is no official release date
yet, my contact at Koch said that we might have it in October or
November! So that's not too far from now! I'll encourage them to put
English-language menus and other English stuff on the discs to make
sure that you guys from abroad will enjoy the season 3 release, too.
There'll probably be another dubbed version of "The Bionic Dog" as a
bonus feature. Since the CIC-video release / Six Mill and Bionic Woman
used two different voice actors for Jaime, this might be fun for those
of you understanding German -- let me tell you: the TV-actor who
dubbed Jaime was way nicer than the video hag...
anyway, I shall
like both soundtracks.
Koch is really sorry that they have not yet been able to include more
bonus features, but even the smallest approach to getting some
additional materials presented them (and me, too) with copyright
restrictions, licensing fees and so forth. It's really hard to find
stuff for a show like "The Bionic Woman" that would be a nice addition
to the discs but doesn't cause any problems (the s2 DVD cover, for
once, is such a problem that Koch is well aware of... Fortunately,
this is now solved thanks to one fine British lad).
Anyway, if you have any ideas or thoughts about the third season, this
is your chance to address them and I shall be glad to see what I can do.
Greetings from one hot and thunderstormy Germany
