Hey, have you guys heard this one yet? Lindsay Lohan is suing E-Trade for $100 million all because in one of their ads they refer to a baby who just happens to be named Lindsay as a milkaholic. According to the lawsuit, Lohan feels that she has the same single name recognition as Oprah or Madonna, so the ad in which she feels is making fun of her problems with alcohol and drugs must be talking about her. LL's lawyer said her civil rights have been violated because they used her name without getting her approval and paying her.

Now of course I know I don't speak for everyone, but when I think of a famous Lindsay, I'm thinking of Wagner, not Lohan! However, LL may come to mind when I hear Lindsay and "holic" in the same sentence. LOL. But hey, here's a great idea....maybe LW should sue LL's parents for defaming her good name by naming their daughter Lindsay too. I mean if LL can sue E-Trade for thinking that she was the Lindsay they were referring to, LW should be able to make the argument that LL's parents must have had her in mind when naming their daughter....after all, what other Lindsay could they have been thinking of. LOL.

I'm sorry, but I've never learned how to post links....so I'm hoping that someone will be kind enough to post the Milkaholic E-Trade commercial here so everyone can see it. It's pretty funny.

a. When I`m hungry:

1 Hungry? Oh, no no....endless diet!
2 I put my finger in the first bowl I find in the kitchen.
3 I take the right amount of nutricional substances via hypodermic perfusion.
4 If nobody invites me, I scoff a huge pizza.
5 I go to the kitchen and open a can.
6 No need to worry about it, I don`t have time to eat anyway.
7 First I have to solve a mistery, food can wait, even if my date is starving.

b. When I have a problem:
4 I look for help, but I don`t give up until it`s fixed
5 I extirpate it.
6 I grab the phone and do a call.
6 I`m paranoic on everything but friendship. I trust my friends and believe in loyalty. I never desert a friend, even if I risk death.
4 Escape. It`s the best choice.
5 I`m quite convincing
6 I get a drink
4 I fight. I even fight against law if needed.
5 Go for it! If anyone wants to try me.... come on! Try and harm my beloved ones!
6 I fight. But if possible I want to stay in lawfulness.

Even Lindsay has a blind spot

OK, folks: Just as I promised in another thread, I have something important to share about the Lindsay Wagner I so love and admire -- something picture-rounding which will help us all in our lifelong learning through The Bionic Woman and her program.

What I want to share is that even Lindsay has a blind side. As great as she is, the Lindsay that we love simply has an inaccurate memory picture of what she did in character as Jaime Sommers. An example: In Chris Mann's recent Retroality online interview, Lindsay states that rather than throwing a rock through a car window to stop the bad guys from fleeing (in Jaime's Mother, as we know), she knocked over a tree so that the car would have to stop. That's true, of course, but Lindsay is forgetting that the result of knocking over that tree was that Jaime caused a bad accident in which the driver was seriously wounded in the forehead, after which she ripped open the back door, grabbed the gunman who'd just shot Chris, and threw him twenty or more feet onto the hard ground, with a tiny clump of grass as a landing pad.

Yes, the blood was put in during post production, as revealed in The Bionic Book, and yes, it was thirty-plus years ago. Lindsay might not have realized how a given scene would come off at the time, but the fact that even now she gets basic things not quite right is more than a memory lapse: it's a small but significant blind spot -- one which can teach us all a thing or two.

Basically, seeing ourselves in a slightly (or, for some, SIGNIFICANTLY) better light than we really are is an essential human trait. In the case of the lady we love, what's happening is that she's so determined to teach through acting as therapy that she almost didn't do the program which made her famous because it wasn't "serious" enough for her; then, when she finally gave in and did do the series, Lindsay was forced to play "The Six Million Dollar Man in a skirt," going around smacking the designated "bad guy" down with her character's super strength. Yes, she communicated to us that might doesn't automatically make right, but it's simply not true that all Jaime's uses of bionics were defensive -- nor should they have been. If you've watched the program carefully and remember it in detail, you'll realize that a more accurate explanation of how Jaime used her bionics would be that she put up with no criminal or violent behavior from others, but quickly calmed down and showed compassion -- even real tenderness -- for anyone who hadn't been pointing a gun at herself or her loved ones. Even in those cases, Jaime was never truly vindictive for very long, but she certainly did "close the book" on people like Tom Tharpe and his goons (in All For One). Though she -- just like Steve -- often pushed Oscar and Rudy to justify their utilization of her bionic abilities on missions, once Jaime was in, she was all in. And a key point about this great show was precisely that Miss Sommers just never took any bull.

I mention this because it's a good object lesson in why even stars are still just people, not gods. That's absolutely essential to remember when interacting with Lindsay, as well as when just basking in her glow or passing on her outstanding heritage to those who are as yet new to it. Tell them this: Lindsay is great as a person and actress because of her nonviolent stance, but The Bionic Woman is still a crime-action SF show, so she still stops the "bad guys" forcefully. Watch COPS -- or any other similar offering -- and you'll see that the types of things Jaime and Steve did to people would really have maimed and killed them in real life; we must therefore be even more emphatic in our suspension of disbelief than we would with newer, more realistic programs. Remember: Lindsay didn't let her kids watch our show at the ages when most of us discovered it (something she revealed on Entertainment Tonight sometime during the eighties or nineties). Them's the facts, and no child is mature enough for the show until he or she can both understand and deal with those facts.

All this may seem blatantly obvious, and you may even question why I bother pointing out a flaw in the woman we all love. Well, I do it because by understanding that Lindsay's still the greatest even though she's not perfect, we can keep this whole bionic phenomenon in perspective. I don't believe I am the only one just working this out, but even if I am, I hope sharing it with you has at least piqued your interest, at least added yet another dimension to your love of these classic characters and their televisual universe. If so, please post your thoughts. If not, just go ahead and ignore these, the ramblings of a confessed bionic fanatic!!!!!

I always wondered HOW much Steve knew about Chris .. of course this scene helps explain loose ends prior to the reunion of Steve and Jaime. As facile (easy) that appears .. I gotta admit .. I could picture the mission and felt that the mission (where Chris died) MAY have appeared on an ole episode of BW or SMDM (it never did) .. but it felt right .. as a transition I think it worked .. at the other end of the transition spectrum is Bobby Ewing coming out of the shower (thereby dismissing an entire season of story telling : on Dallas) ... I thought this was good.
