Request for contributions
Hey guys, my renewal for The Bionic Wardrobe domain name is due at the start of next month and i was wondering if any of you guys would like to make any small donations towards me paying it?

I understand totally if you dont want to, it's not something you're obliged to do, it's £40.25 and being unemployed thats a large amount for me to pay at once, so if anyone wants to make any donations that would be cool for me, we can do it by paypal so it's totally safe.

I'm not begging and please dont feel under any obligation to pay up, i just thought some contributions would be good.

You can send donations through paypal to my email address, Girlreporter@hotmail.co.uk

Though it would be nice to know first so i can thank you properly Smile

RE: Request for contributions
Cuz i'm not actually sure what will happen, or if i'll have to redirect the name again.

See when i registered it i mis-spelt the domain name so everything gets redirected to the correct name, so i dont know if thats gonna stay the same or if i'll have to change that as well and i dont know how cuz the person who helped me set it all up isnt around anymore.

RE: Request for contributions
One person on here actually donated, Bencam, thank you very much.

I'm dissapointed though, no one else helped or even said anything, my site was saved ultimately by a nice girl from my church who made a big donation.

Thanks for nothing then, cept you ben you're cool.

RE: Request for contributions
Now wait a minute

That's not fair - your assuming that because people didn't offer funds that they don't care.

That couldn't be farther from the truth.

But you have to be realistic about the economic state were in. I am sitting here with a 12,600.00 hospital bill in front of me and I have no insurance and I am unemployed.

It is the fans that have kept us where we are, and they don't necessarily have a ton of cash either.

You should be grateful a friend from church did help as opposed to snubbing your own home here with your family.

I am not amused and quite frankly a bit pissed that you would post that way.

You know better.

Steven

I know it's a bad economy but all i'm saying is one dollar would have been appreciated, no one even posted to say they were sorry that they couldnt donate or anything.

And i'm very opposed to the american health care system so you have my sympathy there, but i havent felt like part of this family in ages, i just get attacked by Dolenz all the time.

You two are my firey children. Both of you have very strong opinions. And that's okay. But what happens when you take two magnets and put the identical polar side together?

They push each other away. So whose gonna be the first to turn their magnet?

That's up to you two.

What I would suggest is focusing more energy on the people that respond to you positively. After all, you have one of the threads with the most recorded posts.

Must mean something Smile

Sorry Leather about your disappointment... I tried to arrange some money to help you but I live in a country which is suffering a lot with the global crisis too... I have to pay my bills and my health insurance and my salary is not very high to spend with other things... I'm so sorry about your feelings... You know that I love your website...
Thank you Bencam for helping her!!!

RE: Request for contributions
LT, I like you, I like having you around, and I like your site. There are lots of people around here who don't attack you. I don't think the fact that people didn't contribute to your site should indicate to you that we don't care about you. Were you testing us? You shouldn't EVER test people.

That site is your passion, and in my mind that means you should maintain it. It's true that Steven has received contributions from people for this site, but that's because people actively participate here - they're invested. I love that you do it, and I enjoy looking at it occasionally, but your site is YOUR deal.

I also, personally, don't donate to stuff like that - it's just not a priority, and that is entirely my right. So don't take it as a slight to you!

The fact is YOU are family here .. and I care tons.  I love seeing you here and thought I'd share some ideas with you on your site ..etc.

The reason I mention this is that it seems like you're feeling ignored .. You're not M .. you're not!

You and I shared a belly laugh a week ago on the whole orange juice debate !! LOL ..

RE: Request for contributions

Hey, Brandon: Thanks for your nice words. Still, I second Max, Messyhead and Steve's thoughts: When you ask people for money, make sure you're really asking, not secretly demanding -- even just a little bit. I have some friends in Canada who are up against this right now; one is so chronically poor she's constantly facing eviction. She's come to expect that Friend #2 will always bail her out because for the past year, that's what he has done. So now, she just e-mails him saying she'll be out on the street unless he deposits $$ in her account ASAP, then goes incommunicado, gets back into contact with snippy comments that show she's hurt he didn't give and just generally acts like a royal pain in the you-know-what until he ponys up again.

I used to behave that way myself, spending down to my last dollar on overseas trips and writing or calling my family for bailouts from abroad, banking on the fact of my dire situation to impel them to act quickly. I rationalized this by allowing myself to think that since I was genuinely looking for work and my family was also pushing me to get a job, I was just demanding my rightful due from my own flesh and blood, missing entirely the fact that my mom stopped genuinely loving me right around the time Season Two was in its first run, and my dad had never truly been involved, having divorced Mom and moved away in 1972. Beyond this, as an adult, it was clearly my responsibility to fend for myself as best I could, with nobody but the government (from which I've gotten benefits for much longer than I'm willing to admit) my only legitimate fallback, and only on THEIR (largely bullshit) terms.

In the end, I ended my emotional terror campaign against my family with one last blast on a member I hadn't tapped yet, whose help got me out here, since when, I've made it a personal policy never to ask for money from loved ones with anything but the lowest-key urgency -- meaning I tell them explicitly that it's OK if they say "no". The result? I just got my dad to cover two months of payments on my Sleep Number Bed!!

What you're doing here, Bran, is (of course) nowhere near as bad as any of the above; still, I think that -- having just admitted how bad I myself used to be on this score -- I can accurately (if not too safely) say that your response above shows that your initial request WAS in the same conceptual family. Yes, we're bionic fans, but no, like it or not, the reality is that we're not thereby automatically obligated to support related sites, like public broadcasting. In fact, as a guy, I have zero interest in a site devoted to Jaime's wardrobe -- though, BTW, I just adore the way she dressed throughout the run of the series, which I feel lent her character immense dignity; hence, my contribution was pure disinterested charity, my attempt to bring you some Causeless Joy as Lindsay is always promoting. Yes, it was occassioned by the fact that I know you from hnere, and yes, I think it's too bad no one else did likewise.

But don't start gettin' down on everyone else on here because they declined to donate! Think about it: The only way that position would make sense is if contributing were not really optional -- that is, if everyone but me on here had failed to do what was expected (instead of merely requested) of them.

Even -- no, ESPECIALLY when you don't feel like it, LOVE is always the answer. And with the oposite sex, non-violence is absolutely the Golden Rule.

I will be Starting a Bionic Woman site myself , this site will be all about the merchandise that the show had , very in-depth there are sites like this but they don't cover all aspects of collecting the bionic woman , different versions toys books play sets , i will be linking this site with my bionic you tube page , that will include bionic adverts , but i am still working out ideas . i messaged you on youtube as you was a bionic fan Smile and was very excited about it , but all you said was you hate Joan Collins Sad i run a youtube page for Joan i thought that was a bit harsh .
