Romantic Ways to Spend an Evening at Home

Oddly enough, romance doesn't come to an end the moment marriage vows are exchanged.. For some marriages however it's been on an extended leave of absence. Money is tight everywhere these days but there is no reason you can't enjoy a romantic evening at home if you plan carefully.

Here are just a few things you can do that can really make your evening at home sizzle.

Arrange for all Kids to be Elsewhere

This is the most important part of the plan. There's nothing that will ruin a romantic evening together faster than whining, crying, or wrestling with the little ones. Adults need time together that is all about the two of you and not about your roles as mom and dad.

But kids need this time away too. They need to see you as something other than mom and dad and they need time to socialize and interact with others whether it's their friends or family that they are spending this time with.

Have Dinner Planned

Don't waste time discussing what's going to happen for dinner. Either have it ready and waiting, in the works (cooking together can also make for a romantic and fun evening), or on the way. You don't want to make an impossibly complicated meal on your romantic evening as your attention could easily be taken off task. Keep it simple and not overly filling.

It's also a good idea to have snacks lined up for later in case dinner gets forgotten in the heat of the moment. Have them ready to go in the fridge so that it won't take time to set them up later on either.

Set the Stage

There's no beating a little mood music and lighting to make your romantic night truly special. Light up your candles and play soft music in the background. For a better effect, it's best to choose unscented candles so that fragrance doesn't cause potential allergy problems or simply overwhelm the atmosphere because there are so many candles. You should also make sure the music is playing quietly enough in the background to encourage further conversation.

You don't have to go out for expensive dinners in fancy restaurants in order to have an excellent romantic date. Sometimes spending an evening at home can lead to the greatest possible romance and you won't break the bank in order to accomplish it.

If the romance in your relationship seems to be headed in a steep decline it's time to strike up a slow and steady burn.
